Novice Sister Poly Pocket
I was born in the cabbage patches of Sonoma Valley amongst rows and rows of pink and blue. I never quite fit in at the cabbage patch, because I always had too many colors and let’s face it I was…kinda fruity.
At 15, I attended my first Y.E.S. Conference in San Francisco, this was my first time experiencing the Sister’s and I was awestruck! Amongst my sea of blue’s and pinks here is this walking effervescent rainbow, towering over me like a mystical being. I have never lost the significance of that feeling seeing those sisters that day. That feeling of being empowered as a queer youth to express my true self and stand up for human rights and visibility. Never in a million years did I think I could be part of that magic.
Fast forward a few years, attending Bingo with friends, I met the Russian River Sisters. I asked if I could come along for a meeting and they invited me to stay and learn their ways. Here I was, with an opportunity to step out of my cabbage patch into a whole new mixed bag of fruits and nuts. I couldn't have been more thrilled.
And thus, Poly Pocket found her new little compact home in Guerneville with the Russian River Sisters of Perpetual indulgence. Working with the Sister’s is such an honor! I feel so good about helping the community and participating in a group that has such a rich and powerful history.
